THE ORGAN

The two-manual pipe organ, a miniature replica of the one in the Como Cathedral, was built by Balbiani-Vegezzi-Bossi of Milan.The Organ specification is as follows:

  • 1st manual (great):
      4’ fugura, 4’ principale, 8’ principale, 8’ chimney flute, 8’ bordone, 8’ dulciana

  • 2nd manual (swell):
      8’ oboe, 8’ celeste, 8’ violino, 8’ eufonio, 4’ flute, 8’ dolce
      Full pedal board:
        16’ subbasso, 16’ dolce, 8’ cello

  • Full complement of couplers, combinazione libera, swell pedal, general crescendo pedal.
      Electropneumatic action.

  • Particularly beautiful is the wooden chimney flute stop, while the only reed stop (oboe) is quite powerful.

  • From 1886 to 1890 a harmonium was used in the Hotel Bellevue. 3rd October 1886 - “Mr. Heathcote Long played the harmonium today”

  • 1891 Donated The Organ as a Special Gift on the Subscribers list by F.Lassetter and Heatcote Long Esq. In 1892 an “organ blower” was paid for Sunday Services

  • 30th April and the 28th September 1893 - Organ tuning 290,00 (equivalent of Euro 548.00)

  • 15th July 1906 - Electricity for organ started

  • 13th September 1908 - Special tuning

  • 20th September 1908 - For organ deficit after paying expenses, Miss Olithorp, Mr.Eurant, Bellevue visitor, Mr.Stone-Wigg, W.E.Rosedale (equivalent € 1.578)

  • 18th September 1949 - Repair of organ ( see Organ Restoration Fund attached).

  • 19th May 1991 - organ has been restored and sounds first class

  • 22nd May 1994 - Rev.Peter Edwards helped Janet mend organ
