Villa Carlotta

Villa del Balbianello

HISTORIC LANDMARKS & SIGHTS

Just up the road from the Church is the Villa Margherita where Verdi composed “La Traviata”. Memories of Manzoni’s literary masterpiece “I Promessi Sposi” are everywhere and Stendhal’s “The Charterhouse of Parma” was set in the village of Griante immediately above Cadenabbia.

Villa Carlotta, with it’s world famous gardens, is a ten minute walk south of the Church while further down the lake is the Villa del Balbianello, famous for its breathtaking location.

Bellagio, of course, is home to Villa Serbelloni (Rockefeller Foundation) and Villa Melzi with its interesting park and orangerie.
